NMI Workshop on nanoparticle metrology

ATA Scientific participated in the 2012 Australian laboratory comparison on nanoparticle size measurements run by the National Measurement Institute (NMI) in Lindfield.

The two day workshop included presentations from a range of speakers representing international metrology institutes and research laboratories. Participants of the interlaboratory study were invited to present their size measurement results to the group.

In total, 26 laboratories participated in the comparison using a variety of size measurement techniques including dynamic light scattering (DLS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), flow-field flow fractionation (FFF) and particle tracking analysis.

The outcomes of the comparison provided insights into the strengths and weaknesses of different particle characterisation techniques and highlight some of the challenges associated with determining the nano particle size distribution of an unknown sample. The results will be published by NMI soon. If you would like further information regarding the results of the study, please contact us.
