Probing monolayers and interfaces – achieving extraordinary properties using molecular engineering

ANNOUNCEMENT: THIS SEMINAR IS ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FOLLOWING WORLDWIDE CONCERNS AND INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS).

Melbourne    Adelaide   Sydney    Brisbane   Auckland (NZ)

Free half day seminar

Functionality of a material is often defined by its interaction with its environment. Therefore, understanding the molecular dynamics at the interfaces forms a major component in fabrication of materials with remarkable surface properties. Towards this end, Dr Gabriel Ohlsson (Distribution Sales Manager, Biolin Scientific, Sweden) will expand on use of interfacial and surface characterisation techniques as well as monolayer deposition methods along with notable examples of overcoming challenges.

During the practical demonstrations you will be able to carry out:

  • Interfacial tension
  • Interfacial rheology
  • Dynamic and static contact angle
  • Surface Free Energy measurement
  • Powder wettability
  • Monolayer applications (Assembly and deposition, Monolayer microscopy, Surface potential, Surface pressure)

Seminars will be held in the morning (9am-12pm) in most major cities but will depend on the level of interest received. Locations will include Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and Auckland (NZ).

Further details coming soon.
