How precise is the Tensiio’s force sensor and what measurement range does it cover?
The Tensiio uses a high-resolution force sensor capable of measuring from 1 to 2,000 mN/m. Its wide dynamic range allows it to measure both low interfacial tensions in liquid-liquid systems and the small wetting forces at single fibres — a capability that standard tensiometers in its class do not typically offer.
What temperature range can the Tensiio measure samples?
The Tensiio covers a measurement temperature range of -15°C to 300°C. Integrated temperature control operates between -15°C and 135°C, with the extended upper range available through optional accessories. The instrument includes a built-in stirrer with integrated temperature control, and sample temperature is recorded as a measurable result alongside surface chemistry data.
How does the Tensiio handle critical micelle concentration (CMC) measurement?
The Tensiio, when used with KRUSS ADVANCE software and the optional Micro Dispenser unit, automates CMC measurement by generating a concentration series without manual intervention. The software automatically calculates CMC parameters including excess concentration and molecular surface area, and can export results unattended.
Can the Tensiio measure the wettability of solids, fibres, and powders?
Yes. Beyond liquid surface tension, the Tensiio measures wetting behaviour on solid surfaces, fibres, and powders using the Wilhelmy method. It can determine contact angles on solid flat samples, measure wetting forces at single carbon fibres, calculate surface free energy components (polar and dispersive), and quantify capillary absorption forces on porous materials such as textile fabrics or pharmaceutical tablets.
