The Zetasizer Core from Malvern Panalytical brings dynamic light scattering (DLS), static light scattering (SLS) and differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF) together in a high-throughput, plate-based system designed for biologics formulation and stability screening.
By combining measurements of particle size, protein–protein interactions and thermal stability, Zetasizer Core helps researchers understand not only whether a formulation is stable, but what may be driving its behaviour.
The Zetasizer Core combines 3 measurements into one simple workflow.
- DLS: Measure hydrodynamic size and polydispersity to identify changes in particle size and aggregation.
- SLS: Measure protein–protein interactions, including the second virial coefficient (B22), to understand molecular interactions that can influence formulation stability.
- DSF: Measure thermal stability and unfolding behaviour to assess the structural stability of your protein.
Together, DLS, SLS and DSF provide a more complete picture of formulation stability, helping identify promising candidates for further development. Combining these techniques in one system eliminates the need for sample transfer and separate sample preparation between different instruments. This reduces ambiguity between measurements performed at different times or under different conditions helping to distinguish genuine formulation instability from changes introduced by the measurement environment.
Compatible with standard 96-, 384- and 1536-well plates, the Zetasizer Core requires no proprietary consumables and connects directly with existing plate handling robotics, liquid handlers and laboratory information management systems (LIMS). With volumes as low as 4 µL and throughput of up to 192 samples per experiment at 1°C/min thermal ramp, researchers can rapidly screen formulation conditions including pH, buffer composition, excipients, surfactants and concentration in a single workflow.
The system uses the same DLS algorithms and adaptive correlation technology as the Zetasizer Advance range, helping reduce revalidation when moving from discovery to quality control. Automation-ready capabilities support integration with standard laboratory robotics through an open API and barcode reader (coming soon). OmniTrust for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance (coming soon) will further support secure, traceable and compliant high-throughput workflows.
