Product Overview
Micromeritics GeoPyc Envelope Density Analyser rapidly measures the envelope density of porous objects of irregular size and shape. Envelope density or bulk density is the mass of an object divided by its volume where the volume includes that of its pores and small cavities. Envelope density information is useful in characterising catalysts, structural foams, insulators, ceramics, powder metallurgy objects, and other manufactured goods.
GeoPyc follows a unique displacement measurement technique that uses a quasi-fluid called DryFlo which is composed of small, rigid spheres having a high degree of flow-ability. The sample is placed in a bed of Dry Flo which is agitated and gently consolidated about the sample. The GeoPyc collects the displacement data, performs the calculations, and displays or prints the results. The unit also reports percentage porosity and specific pore volume when absolute density information (density excluding pore and small cavity volume obtained from a Micromeritics Accu-Pyc helium pycnometer) is entered.

- APPLICATIONS
BENEFITS
- Speed
Fast, fully automated operation in a compact bench-top instrument. GeoPyc can complete an analysis in 5 to 20 minutes, depending on operator-selected variables. This facilitates more frequent sample testing and greater responsiveness of production to quality standards.
- Automation
GeoPyc’s method is automated, therefore reduces the likelihood of human error. It offers non-destructive analysis with highly accurate and reproducible results
- Non-toxic/Non-destructive
Because DryFlo is non-toxic and easily brushes off most surfaces, samples are generally not altered by GeoPyc analysis. They can often be used for further testing or even returned into production. GeoPyc requires no handling or disposal of hazardous materials
- Versatile
Determines envelope volume and density of monolithic samples as well as bulk volume and density of powdered materials. A variety of sample chambers is available to accommodate a wide range of sample sizes.
T.A.P. Density option – measures the packing volume and calculates the bulk density of granular and powdered samples including pharmaceutical and electrochemical materials, under a wide range of compaction conditions
APPLICATIONS
Relative Densities of Pharmaceutical Powders, Blends, Dry Granulations and Immediate-Release Tablets
Measure Bulk Density And Packing Volume Of Mixed Food Powders
Determine porosity in iron ore green pellets
Automated Soil Particle Specific Gravity Analysis
