Building on the strengths of the previous generation Bohlin rotational rheometers, the Kinexus DSR-E enables the highest functionality while maintaining ease of use.

Rheological characterisation by Dynamic Shear Rheometers (DSR) is the standard method of classifying asphalt binders for behaviour over time and loading conditions, and in different climates. This is complementary to viscosity and penetration (pen) grading.

Kinexus provides further insight into asphalt properties in addition to performing several standard AASHTO/ASTM tests. It offers a number of unique features that have been designed to help improve laboratory efficiency. Flow properties such as shear viscosity can be measured from flow tests while dynamic material properties such viscoelastic modulus and phase angle can be measured from oscillation tests.

The innovative instrument design coupled with a revolutionary software interface ensures ease of use. Kinexus unique ‘plug and play’ cartridge system together with intelligent geometry recognition and user feedback on system status guarantees robust data for all measurements. Unique sequence-drivenrSpace software enables fully customisable test design for users to set-up Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or to investigate tailored rheological test protocols.

Environmental controllers for the Kinexus rheometer are based on a unique ‘plug and play’ cartridge design for ease of use.

Peltier Plate cartridge
Optimised for cone-plate and parallel plate measuring systems it offers temperature control between -40°C to +200°C.

Peltier Cylinder cartridge
Optimised for concentric cylinder-type measuring systems it offers temperature control between -30°C to +200°C.

Active Hood cartridge
Optimised for plate measuring systems to prevent thermal losses in the local sample environment, and minimise sample thermal gradients. It offers temperature control between -40°C to +200°C.

High Temperature Cartridge (HTC)

Solid Fixtures – Torsion/DMA system 
Optimised for use with Kinexus Cylinder Cartridge and allows Torsional testing of a self supporting rectangular or cylindrical solid sample. Understand how a sample changes with temperature ( -20°C to +200°C) or time in a dry or wet environment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Geometry measuring systems
A wide range of quick connect geometries are offered for the Kinexus with intelligent recognition and auto-configuration. Parallel plates and cone and plate with roughened and serrated surface finish options available. Coaxial cylinders (cup and bob) to DIN standard. Double gap cell and vane tool options.

Crumb Rubber kit
A hard anodised aluminium shallow cup insert for Kinexus cylinder cartridge designed to measure crumb rubber asphalt mixtures. Low volume, wide gap concentric cylinder enables samples with larger particles to be measured.
