WEBINAR: Recent developments in RNA R&D and manufacturing in NSW

A presentation by Dai Hayward as part of the NSW Pharmaceutical Science Group’s Vaccine technologies update webinar webcast on 14th June 2023

Prof Pall Thordarson, Director, RNA Institute UNSW together with Dai Hayward CEO, Micropore Technologies, provide a Vaccine Technologies Update for the RACI (Royal Australian Chemical Institute) NSW Pharmaceutical Science.

ABSTRACT: Dr Dai Hayward, CEO Micropore Technologies
As nanomedicines move from the urgency of mRNA vaccines, to minimise the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, to other exciting nucleotide therapies two significant issues need to be addressed before nanomedicines become truly mainstream therapies; tissue targeting and robust scalability from discovery to manufacture.

This presentation will address the importance of resolving the latter issue as a means of imparting high levels of control, in a formulation agnostic manner, to allow scale-appropriate optimisation of formulations for therapeutic outcomes with no compromises. Micropore Technologies’ established approach to development and manufacture of a variety of nanoparticles will be discussed. A novel whole-process approach, unlocking a route to distributed manufacturing, will be described.

Light Microscopy Australia Virtual Conference, LMA2021

12 August 2021, @4pm (EAST)

Zoom seminar: Label-free live cell analysis using LiveCyte. ATA Scientific presented a 10min talk with Q&A on 12 August, at 4pm (AEST) during LMA2021. This virtual meeting covered some of the most cutting-edge techniques and applications of light microscopy. Talks and workshops featured Live imaging of cells, tissues, and organisms, Image processing and analysis, and Advances microscopy. Contact us for a copy of the recorded talk.

17 August 2021, @10am – 1pm (AEST)

Livecyte Workshop: Uncovering the inconvenient truth behind manual cell tracking
Our workshop series included three half hour webinars.
1/ Measuring random motility and wound healing with Livecyte: Are you only scratching the surface? (time 10.00-10.30am)
2/ Multiplication and division: Calculating growth and proliferation at population and single level with Livecyte. (time 11am-11.30am)
3/ Fluorescence in QPI Imaging: The mCherry on Top. (time 12noon-12.30pm)

The talks illustrated the root causes of manual tracking inaccuracies on a fundamental level and how using computer algorithms can eliminate them by removing the subjective nature of human interaction. The Livecyte system, is currently installed and ready for use within the UNSW. Using ptychography, a quantitative phase imaging modality, Livecyte is both ideally suited to label-free automated single cell tracking and extremely low phototoxicity.

This was an online workshop. Contact: Peter Davis (pdavis@atascientific.com.au)

Tissue clearing seminar : Accelerate your 3D imaging workflow 2019

6 – 13 December 2019

ADELAIDE      MELBOURNE              SYDNEY               BRISBANE

We would like to thank everyone who attended our seminar “Tissue Clearing seminar – Accelerate your 3D imaging workflow”.

Tissue clearing is essential for non-destructive, three-dimensional (3D) imaging of biological samples. Combined with labeling techniques, tissue clearing allows for the visualisation of cellular structures in their physiological context.

This seminar focused on the X-CLARITY systems and reagents used standardise, simplify, and accelerate each step of the tissue clearing process. X-CLARITY is based on CLARITY (Clear Lipid-exchanged Acrylamide-hybridized Rigid Imaging / Immunostaining /in situ-hybridization-compatible Tissue hYdrogel), a tissue clearing method developed by the Deisseroth lab at Stanford University. The new DeepLabel Antibody Staining Kit accelerates immunolabeling of cleared tissues for a broad range of applications.

Mastersizer and Zetasizer training 2019

June – September 2019

SYDNEY          PERTH       BRISBANE         ADELAIDE        MELBOURNE

We recently hosted a series of training courses focused on the Malvern Mastersizer and Malvern Zetasizer instruments. Courses were run in all major cities around Australia and provided users with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in achieving reliable particle sizing.

Both training courses are one day events that help users understand how the instruments work, how to make reliable measurements and how to interpret data. Important maintenance and sampling procedures are also covered in practicals.
The training courses will be run again in the future. Venues will depend on the level interest received. Contact us now to reserve your seat.

Test drive the new Phenom Pharos SEM – September 2019

Pharos semFaster, higher-resolution desktop SEM : Use the new Phenom Pharos SEM with FEG source

We recently toured the east coast of Australia and demonstrated the new  Phenom Pharos SEM – the first desktop SEM solution that includes a field emission gun (FEG) source to deliver crisp, high brightness images. It offers floor model performance on a desktop microscope with magnifications of up to one million times and <3nm resolution. Download the flier here

Experienced users and non-users of SEM were invited to discover new insights via scheduled demonstrations followed by additional “hands on” time for sample analysis.
