The Zetasizer with Auto Plate Sampler (APS) automates protein size measurements to determine the presence and proportion of aggregates. Utilising the highly sensitive Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) technique the system speeds the development of the protein's optimum solvent and buffer conditions. Light scattering provides more than just size measurement. Other parameters include mean hydrodynamic radius, polydispersity index, molecular weight and melting points.
Click here to contact usAutomating the measurement procedure means that you can simply insert a micro plate of samples and press "start". Samples are detected in the plate wells by a level sensor and then precisely transferred to the measurement cell. The optics are optimised to deliver the highest possible sensitivity. The APS sampler is compatible with standard SBS 96 and 384-well micro plates.
The system incorporates dual temperature control. The measurement chamber is controlled in the range of 2-90°C with a 0.1°C precision, either at a fixed temperature or a temperature ramp for melting point studies. Samples in the plate are controlled separately to ensure the protein is stored at optimum temperature.
The easy-to-use software guides users in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for repeatable measurements. A range of measurements can be performed on a single plate and can be repeated. It also provides customised data output and result reports.
A set of Protein Utilities helps the user with experimental design and interpretation of the data. Recommended sample concentrations and "what if" scenarios are available to provide shape estimates such as the Perrin factor, prolate and oblate axial ratios, as well as an estimate of molecular weight from the size measured.
