Spectrometer for in-vivo photosynthesis studies

The JTS-10 is a LED pump-probe spectrometer designed for electron transfer studies in photosynthetic organisms. This Joliot Type spectrometer is capable of performing both absorbance and fluorescence measurements in visible and near-infra red wavelength ranges. Switching from one configuration to the other is quick and easy.

The external and removable actinic LEDs excite the sample and detecting LEDs follow the electron transfer at specific wavelengths. In addition to standard LED configurations other detection or actinic sources can be used for studies, such as cytochrome redox changes, P700 redox changes, or light-induced absorption changes in photosynthetic bacteria. External light sources include a Laser Xenon Flash Lamp.

The system is extremely versatile. Sample temperature and the chamber’s atmosphere (N2, CO2, etc.) can be controlled. Two magnetic plates are used to position and hold leaves with different geometries and a liquid sample holder is supplied for suspensions.

The intuitive software provides a full set of mathematical tools for data treatment and analysis, including:

The software includes a library of pre-programmed sequences in absorbance and fluorescence modes. Users can modify each sequence or create new sequences to add to the library. The time between two successive events can vary from 1 μs to several minutes.
